Seagardens has grown!
The 3 frames constructed to display the Installation are almost full. It is no longer possible to transport the complete Installation to craft days or demonstrations, so we have devised the following system.
Glenys is always happy to visit any group that is interested in the Seagardens Installation.
- a treasure box of hyperbolic crochet is always available to demonstrate the different pieces that can be constructed with a wide range of materials.
- for larger meetings, craft exhibitions and special events it is possible with sufficient notice to bring one of the smaller frames for display.
- Seagardens Aotearoa Installation is only available for longer term exhibitions. We prefer an art gallery, museum or similar supervised display space which can include facilities for crocheters to be present to demonstrate the art of crochet. Seagardens is a ‘stand alone’ installation or can be combined with other similarly themed exhibitions. (Such as Knitcetera at Orewa)
Unfortunately costs are always involved!
It is usually possible with sufficient notice to apply for funding to cover the costs. Transport is the major cost with some associated expenses.
Display Area:
Below is an image of the frames upon which Seagardens is displayed.

The frames are permanently dressed and now simulate a sea cave overhang, a reef surface and a rock with hanging curlicues.

The space required is about 5×5 metres to allow circulation around the installation, although the size is growing and an additional frame will soon be needed. The height of the tall frame is 4.5m.
People need to be able to get up close to all its parts.
